FAISALABAD: The visit of the Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, to China has begun to yield results, with plans now underway for mobile phone manufacturing in Punjab.
The Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, laid the foundation stone for Vivo Mobile’s manufacturing plant at the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC). The plant, expected to be completed within two years, will mark the beginning of mobile phone manufacturing in the region. The event was attended by officials from Vivo Mobile China and FIEDMC CEO, Mian Jameel Ahmad.
During the ceremony, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain expressed his enthusiasm for the development, highlighting that the shift from assembling to manufacturing mobile phones in Punjab is a significant step forward. He emphasized that local production would help reduce the cost of mobile phones for consumers.
The minister also encouraged both local and foreign investors, stating that Punjab offers a golden opportunity for investment with excellent facilities and incentives. He noted that foreign companies, particularly from China, are increasing their investments in Punjab, which is expected to attract billions in foreign direct investment in the near future.
After laying the foundation, the provincial minister reviewed the ongoing construction process and participated in the plantation campaign by planting saplings at the site.
